An exciting platform for youngster’s given by dawn news channel, few days back Mr.: Owais Mangalwala producer of renowned program ‘state of sharia’ on dawn news channel. Visited our university (Jinnah University for Women’s) for the sake of promoting his new program “CITIZEN JOURNALISM”, he also gave lecture there about citizen journalism, Mr. Mangalwala said: “Journalism is powerful but manipulated, When the people use the tool of journalism in order to communicate each other is called citizen journalism”
There are four types of journalism.
· Sharing of experience
· Sharing of opinion
· Sharing of discovery
· Sharing of expertise
He also gave following key points of citizen journalism:
- What u share it must be real.
- Events are around find it and cover it.
- Give your own point of view.
- Keep your eyes open everything can be reported
- Be descriptive but not exaggerate.
- Accuracy is the key so be accurate.
- Work on writing style and selection of words.
- Follow the code of conduct.
- Find those people who give you some feedback.
- Don't ever think that what you are doing is a boring job.
- Avoid plagiarism.
In his lecture he also said: Every one can participate in Citizen Journalism either he/she is a student of mass communication or not, if students report is interesting and unique we’ll not present his/her report on television in fact we’ll also invite him /her in our show Citizen Journalism.
